The breakup of a once loving relationship can be one of the hardest things many of us will ever face. While it's never easy, there are some things you can do to help when coping with a relationship break up. Hopefully this article can help this change go a little more smoothly and with a little less pain.

The fact is, no matter what you do during this difficult time, one of the first things you need to do is to completely stop all communication with your ex. This will not be easy because, at this early stage you are probably still hoping for reconciliation. You may even be worried that, if you're not around, they'll think you don't care. You may even think they might find someone else.

The fact of the matter is: they may already be over you! And, if so, they don't really care that much if you want them back or not. You need to know they will move on even if you aren’t yet ready yourself. So, not communicating with them isn't going to make any difference to them; but it can help you focus on yourself and find a way to move on. As hard as it sounds, you really need to get over you first!

Possibly, after the dust has settled, you may be able to talk to them to just say goodbye or simply to reconcile, but for a time after the breakup you need to get them out of your every thought. The best way to do that is to not have any contact with them at all.

As has been mentioned already, you need to concentrate on you. What activities do you enjoy doing? Concentrate on those things you like to do. Find things that don't remind you of your ex and the good times you once shared.

Spend time doing things that make you feel good, like spending time with friends and family. Go shopping or get a new outfit. Get your hair done; go away on a guys only or girls only vacation.

When people are in a relationship, they can lose a portion of their individuality. Now is the time to get some of that back. It will make you feel better emotionally and it will show people that you are an individual person with a lot to offer.

Coping with a relationship break up is never easy. But, you can get through it with a lot less pain if you follow some of these tips. Just make sure to spend time focusing on you and your needs and not on what used to be or what could have been. Don’t be afraid to reintroduce yourself to you!
